Rule By Force Determined In Coyote
Phoenix, AZ – March 26, 2011 - The Sandra Hall’s Trust’s Rule By Force
made a tenacious move through the stretch to score a mild-upset victory
in the $25,000 Coyote Handicap over six-and-one-half furlongs at Turf
Paradise on Saturday afternoon.
The veteran 6-year-old gelding was timed in 1:14.50 for his 10th victory
in his 30th career start.
Absolutely Cool was one-half length back for second while 7-5 favorite
Point Attended finished third in the field of nine older sprinters.
Jockey Vince Guerra placed Rule By Force in a competitive position
rounding the turn and was within one-half length of pacesetter Point
Attended at the top of the stretch. He then wore down Point Attended to
get his fourth win from 15 starts at Turf Paradise.
The Lyman Rollins-trained Rule By Force scored his first win since
taking the Yavapai Dash in July at Yavapai Downs. Since that win, Rule
By Force made five-straight starts against stakes company before
finishing third in a conditioned allowance race in his start before the
Coyote Handicap.
Karl Krieg III’s runner-up Absolutely Cool stepped up to the stakes
division after two wins and a third-place run against Turf Paradise
allowance company in his two prior efforts.
Bill Dory’s Point Attended earned his favoritism after winning the Swift
Stakes over Rule By Force and then finishing third in the Phoenix Gold
Cup at 10-1 odds.
