Blumin Beauty Holds On To Win Mesa Handicap at Turf Paradise

           Phoenix, AZ. (January 30, 2010) — Viola Oliver’s  Blumin Beauty vied inside in the turn and held her lead through the stretch to win the $27,125 Mesa Handicap over six-and-half furlongs on Saturday afternoon at Turf Paradise.

           Jockey Ry Eikleberry moved the thoroughbred Blumin Beauty to the lead at the quarter pole after she braking fifth from the field of nine Thoroughbreds. Eikleberry pushed her inside on the turn and extend his lead to length-and-a-half down the stretch, continuously pressured by jockey Glen Corbett aboard the favorite Puff Maddie, Eikleberry and Blumin Beauty crossed the wire for the win by a head. Puff Maddie, had to settle for place while Littlemiss Allison two-and-a-half lengths back got the show.

           Blumin Beauty, trained by Doug Oliver raced the six and a half furlongs in 1:16.01 for her 9th career win in 50th starts. The 7-year-old fill sired by Blumin Affair out of Goody Gumdrop, by Northern Baby was bred in Minnesota by Jeff H. Kilger and Douglas Oliver.

            Blumin Beauty returned $24.40, $7.20 and $3.40. Puff Maddie paid $3.00 and $2.40 while Littlemiss Allison was worth $3.20 to show.
