Rc Black Mamba is top qualifier for $253,004 West
Texas Futurity G1 Sunland Park, NM - April 1, 2011 - Rc
Black Mamba, a well bred filly by Desirio out of the blue chip mare
Hidden Dragon, was the fastest qualifier from nine West Texas Futurity
trials held at Sunland Park Racetrack and Casino on Friday. The finale
to the Grade 1 $253,004 West Texas Futurity will be held on Sunday,
April 17.
Ridden by Larry Payne, Rc Black Mamba made her career debut a winning
one and posted the fastest time of 14.93 seconds for the 300 yard trial.
The talented two-year-old won in convincingly by three parts of a
length. The precocious sort is trained by Carl Draper. Fredda Draper and
Lola Willis of Ruidoso Downs are the owners.
Trainers Trey Wood and Jackie Riddle each qualified two runners for the
finale. Wood won with two sons of Valiant Hero. They were Valiant War
Hero and Valiant Valor. Riddle saddled two trial winners in Get Gone Gol
and Twilight B.
