WORKOUTS BEGIN FOR 2010 RACING SEASON, JIM BEAN HAS FIRST OFFICIAL CLOCKING
OKLAHOMA CITY – February 5, 2010 - Remington Park’s racing surface opened for
morning training today after winter weather forced a delay in the proceedings
from earlier this week. Jim Bean posted the first workout of the year with the
2010 American Quarter Horse & Mixed-Breed Season set to begin in one month.
A 3-year-old Texas-bred gelding owned by Kenneth Casey of Hickory Creek, Texas
and trained by Luis Villafranco, Jim Bean breezed 220 yards in :12.32 seconds
over the muddy Remington Park track. G.R. Carter, a 12-time leading jockey at
Remington Park with six consecutive titles to his credit, was aboard Jim Bean
for the breeze.
Jim Bean raced three times at Remington Park last year, with a pair of
fourth-place finishes as his best result. He has one victory from seven career
starts on his resume. A son of The Converter from the Make Mine Bud mare Make
Mine Jelybean posted his official workout at 9:45am under sunny skies with
temperature in the low 40s.
The live racing season begins on Friday, March 5 at Remington Park. With full
nights of trials expected on both March 5 and Saturday, March 6, the first post
time to begin racing on each evening has been moved earlier to 5:30pm. The first
race on Sunday, March 7 to wrap up the first weekend is scheduled at normal post
time of 6:25pm. All times are central.
