PASSION FOR CORONA SETS STANDARD IN FIRST TRIAL AND
IT HOLDS FOR TOP REMINGTON PARK DERBY TIME
OKLAHOMA CITY – April 1, 2011 - A total of seven trials were held Friday
night at Remington Park, qualifying 3-year-olds for the $280,000
Remington Park Derby later in the month. Passion For Corona won the
first trial and her time stayed as the best for the remainder of the
evening.
Owned by James Sills and Gerald Swindell of Cedar Hill, Texas, Passion
For Corona is trained by Eddie Willis and was ridden by Jimmy Brooks.
The Oklahoma-bred covered her 400 yards in :19.681 seconds over a fast
track.
A daughter of Corona Cartel from the Promised Passion mare Texas Lady
Passion, Passion For Corona was bred in Oklahoma by her owners. The
victory was her fifth from 11 career starts and her fourth at Remington
Park.
Contested as an event for Oklahoma-breds for the first time in its
history, the field for the Remington Park Derby on April 16, along with
