OKLAHOMA CITY – March 13, 2011 - Jess Special Candy rolled over 330 yards in Sunday’s $23,000 allowance feature at Remington Park, getting the victory and setting a new track record for the distance.

Owned by Manny Silva of Rockton, Ill. and trained by Jody Brown, Jess Special Candy was ridden by David Brown. A 5-year-old Oklahoma-bred gelding, Jess Special Candy won by a neck over heavy favorite American Spit Curl who settled for second. Jess Special Candy crossed the finish in :16.384 seconds over a fast track to better the former 330-yard mark of :16.442 seconds, set by Toast Ta Fame in 2009.

Overlooked in the wagering at 14-1 odds, Jess Special Candy paid $30.80 to win, $12.20 to place and $13.40 to show. American Spit Curl returned $4.60 to place and $3.20 to show as the beaten 3-5 favorite. JA Sundance was third, 2-1/4 lengths behind the runner-up, and paid $7.60 to show.

A son of Mr Jess Perry from the Strawfly Special mare This Candys Special, Jess Special Candy was bred in Oklahoma by Carl Pevehouse. The record-setting victory was his third from 20 career starts and his first from five attempts at Remington Park. The winner’s share of $13,230 increases the career earnings for Jess Special Candy to $58,361.
