Ruidoso Yearling Sale Up 26 Percent, Final Session Shows 59-Percent Gain

RUIDOSO DOWNS, New Mexico (September 5, 2011) – The Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale concluded its three-day run with exceptional gains for the entire offering and for the final session on Sunday night.

Final sales for the three-day sale were up 26 percent over comparable 2010 figures with an average price of $44,026. Last year’s average was $35,048.

The Sunday night session helped boost the overall average with the session averaging $45,558, up 59 percent over the $28,686 average during the final session of the 2010 sale.

Aiding the Sunday session and overall average was the sale of the Mr Jess Perry filly A Dash Of Sweet Heat for $650,000. She was sold by Julianna Hawn Holt to the A Dash of Sweet Heat Partnership. The bay filly is out of broodmare of the year and two-time champion Corona Chick, the dam four stakes winners and six earners of more than $100,000. Her produce include two-time champion and All American Futurity winner Corona Cash, Grade 1 winner and leading sire Corona Cartel, and Grade 1 winner and leading freshman sire Valiant Hero.

The $650,000 price for A Dash Of Sweet Heat broke the record for a filly at the Ruidoso Select Sale that lasted just one day. Justice Down Toll SA brought $630,000 during the Saturday offering. Another daughter of Mr Jess Perry, Justice Down Toll SA was purchased by David and Sue Mackie from Vessels Stallion Farm and Gianni Samaja. She is a half-sister to Grade 1 Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity winner One Quick First Down.

It was a Sunday night for fillies with Native Tea Rose, a daughter of First Down Dash, changing hands for $330,000 for second high-seller honor. She was consigned by Lazy E Ranch, LLC and bought by Abigail Kawananakoa. The January filly is a full sister Texas Classic Futurity winner Bodacious Dash, who was also second in the Rainbow Derby and third in the Ruidoso Futurity. Preliminary Results
