Record Falls In Two Of Three Races on Friday Afternoon at Ruidoso Downs

RUIDOSO DOWNS, New Mexico (July 29, 2011) – The 300-yard track record fell twice within the first three races on Friday afternoon at Ruidoso Downs.

In the first race, Espinosa Stone’s First Prize Rock won his maiden in stunning style by when he raced the distance in :15.021 to erase the previous mark of :15.050 established by Special Task For in 2006.

That mark lasted just 50 minutes until Jesiacountrychick won the third race, a conditioned allowance race for fillies and mares, in :14.999.

First Prize Rock, trained by Luis Villafranco, made his fourth career start in the first race. His best previous effort was a third-place finish in his Oklahoma Futurity trial on April 2.

Jesiacountrychick, a three-year-old filly from the Mike Joiner barn, scored her first victory since a maiden win at Ruidoso Downs 13 months ago. She now has two wins from eight starts.

Each race was run over a fast track with the first race having a 12 mile per hour tailwind and the third race had an 18 mile per hour tailwind.
