Lalumbredelospateres Rallies To
Take Fine Loom HandicapRUIDOSO DOWNS, New Mexico (May 29, 2011) – The Manuel Urioste-owned, -bred and -trained Lalumbredelospateres made a big move down the middle of the Ruidoso Downs straightaway to race to for his third-straight win the $30,000 Fine Loom Handicap on Sunday afternoon. The Ricky Ramirez-ridden Lalumbredelospateres covered the 870-yards in :46.47 to win by an increasing one-and-three-quarter lengths. Hez Our Rock, the 2-1 favorite, shot to the lead from the inside position and led the 8-horse field around the turn. Jockey Ricky Ramirez got Lalumbredelospateres rolling coming off of the turn and the pair had the race in hand by the sixteenth pole. Kokopellis Babycakes rallied to catch the tiring Hez Our Rock for second place. Lalumbredelospateres, a 7-year-old gelding, returned from an extended layoff in February at Sunland Park and has won all of his three 2011 starts. He used his late-running style to take a pair of allowance races at Sunland Park before coming to Ruidoso Downs for the Fine Loom. Runner-up Kokopellis Babycakes also had a winning campaign at Sunland Park with a pair of allowance wins from three starts. |
