Improvements Ready For Ruidoso Opening

RUIDOSO DOWNS, New Mexico (May 22,2011) — A completely renovated racing surface and numerous upgrades to the grandstand and All American Turf Club pace the improvements in place for the summer racing season at Ruidoso Downs.

The summer season starts on Friday with the daylong trials to the Grade 1, $500,000 Ruidoso Futurity. The trails to the Grade 1 Ruidoso Derby highlight Saturday’s program.

For the first time, racing will be conducted on a Friday through Monday schedule at the track in southern New Mexico’s Sacramento Mountains.

Fans will first notice the improvements when they drive into the track. The road and asphalt parking has been resurfaced and restriped and there is new signage throughout the facility.

Upon entering the grandstand, there is new stucco on the outside of the grandstand and the grandstand interior has been painted with new signs above the concession areas.

The All American Turf Club underwent extensive upgrading with new carpet and painting.

The safety of the racehorse and jockeys is always a top priority at Ruidoso Downs and the entire racing surface under went a renovation before the track opened for training this spring.
