Fast Movin Vic Easily Wins John
Deere New Mexico Challenge
RUIDOSO DOWNS, New Mexico (August 7, 2010) – David Barrett’s Fast Movin Vic
easily handled the sloppy track and his four rivals to win the Grade 3, $60,210
John Deere New Mexico Juvenile Challenge on Saturday afternoon at Ruidoso Downs.
The John Deere New Mexico Juvenile Challenge win earned Fast Movin Vic a berth
in the Grade 2, $150,000 John Deere Juvenile Challenge Championship at Fair
Grounds on November 19.
With G.R. Carter Jr. aboard, Fast Movin Vic raced the 350 yards in :17.42 for
his second straight win. He finished one-half length ahead of runner-up Tebo
Creek.
Granturismo crossed the finish in third place, but was disqualified and placed
fifth for interference. That moved Features Lucky Charm from fourth place up to
the third position.
A gelded son of Mighty Invictus from the Fred Danley barn, Fast Movin Vic showed
promise earlier this year with a third-place finish in the Grade 1, $302,000
West Texas Futurity. He backed up that effort with a fifth in the Ruidoso
Juvenile.
Fast Movin Vic then won his maiden in his John Deere New Mexico Juvenile
Challenge trial when he prevailed by three quarters of a length as the
even-money favorite.
The field was reduced by five scratches, including fastest-qualifier and 3-1
morning-line favorite Dominyun.
The next major event on the Ruidoso Downs’ 2-year-old schedule are the trials to
the Grade 1, $2 million (est.) All American Futurity on August 19.
