Portland Meadows XpressBet Jockey Challenge cancelled

Portland, OR. - Nov. 27, 2010 - The 2nd Annual XpressBet Jockey Challenge at Portland Meadows scheduled for Monday November 29th has been cancelled due to the Southern California riders refusing to make the trip up. The Jockey Challenge was slated to be a four race challenge series covering races 4 through 7 on the Portland Meadows Monday Card.

“We’re extremely disappointed in the riders from Southern California making the decision not to come up,” said Portland Meadows Assistant General Manager Jerry Kohls. “I know many fans here in Portland and the Northwest were looking forward to the event.”

Portland Meadows will continue on as planned with the Monday card, which will feature a 10 race program with first post at 12:40pm PST.

Portland Meadows next big day will be a special Sunday of live racing on Sunday December 12, 2010 for Oregon Championship Day. Oregon Championship Day will feature five stakes races for Oregon-breds as well as the ‘Best of Oregon Brew Fest and Fair’ on the tracks 2nd floor Clubhouse level.
