MINNESOTA QHRA EXTENDS DEADLINES, HONORS AWARD WINNERS

AQHA - March 3, 2010 - The Minnesota Quarter Horse Racing Association will extend the nomination deadline from March 1st to the new date of March 15th for three stakes races. The races include the Canterbury Park Derby, Northlands Futurity and North Central Quarter Horse Racing Association Futurity.

The MQHRA recently recognized the 2009 year end awards winners. The awards are as follows:

2-year-old Open & Minnesota Bred: Oak Tree Boulevard, owned and bred by Robert and Julie Peterson

The bay gelding is by Oak Tree Special out of the Dash Thru Traffic mare Chic N Traffic. Finishing first 4 out of 6 starts with $30,439 in earnings his freshman year. Oak Tree Boulevard won the Minnesota Futurity on Minnesota Festival of Champions day as his half brother, reserve 3 year old; Traffic Cartel, won the Minnesota Derby.

Reserve – Six It Up, owned by Steve Pribyl. The sorrel filly is by Tres Seis out of Biddies On A High by On A High 

3-year-old Open & Minnesota Bred: Quattro, owned by TAC Partners, bred by TAC Ranch LLC.

The bay gelding is by Dash Thru Traffic out of the Duel Fuel mare Expressively. From 18 starts Quattro has 2 wins, 4 seconds and 3 thirds earning $50,200. 

Reserve – Traffic Cartel, owned and bred by Robert and Julie Peterson. The bay gelding is by Southern Cartel out of the Dash Thru Traffic mare Chic N Traffic. After 20 outs Traffic Cartel has 4 wins, 3 seconds and 3 thirds winning the Minnesota Derby the same day half brother, top Minnesota 2 year old Oak Tree Boulevard won the MN Futurity. Traffic Cartel has career earnings to date of $40,824. 

4-year-old Open & Minnesota Bred: Stone Cold Roller, owned and bred by Robert and Julie Peterson.

The sorrel gelding is by Takin On the Cash out of Highbrook Belle by High Brite. With over $100,000 in career earnings the eight-time winner was beat twice in 2009 by new track records. 

Reserve – Well Rock My World, owned and bred by Eugene and Rita Boehlke.

Foaled in Minnesota in 2000, the brown gelding is by Hooked On Cash out of Sirprize Love by Silver Charge. 

Distance:  Well Rock My World. After 64 starts, 12 wins, 11 seconds and 14 thirds Well Rock My World has career earnings of $147,425 

High Point Open & Minnesota Bred: Quattro.

At odds of 25-1, Quattro won the Bayer Legend Central Derby Challenge (G3), earning a spot in the Grade 1, $200,000 Bayer Legend Challenge Championship.
