Big Payday for Brimmies Alli Bi B in the $400,000 TQHA Sale Futurity
By Martha Claussen

It was a fine weekend for progeny of of Brimmerton at Sam Houston Race Park. On Friday, July 30, King Brimmerton was a convincing winner in the $30,00 Ancira Ford Classic for owner/ breeder Bobby Cox and on July 31, another talented Brimmerton offspring, the 2-year-old filly Brimmies Alli Bi B, defeated a contentious field in the $400,000 TQHA Sale Futurity.

Brimmerton bankrolled over $500,000 with victories the All American Derby-G1, Rainbow Quarter Horse Derby-G1, and Texas Derby Challenge-G3. He was honored in 2004 as the AQHA Champion 3-year-old colt.
Brimmies Alli Bi B was purchased last July at the TQHA Yearling Sale by Texas horseman James Sills for $30,000. She was the tenth fastest qualifier in trials run on July 16, but clearly peaked at the right time as she surged to a length and one-half win over post time favorite, Jazzy Sixes. She earned $178,000; the third-largest purse since the inception of the race in 1999.

Trainer Eddie D. Willis and rider Jimmy Dean Brooks have guided the black filly since she made her career debut on May 7 at Remington Park. Tonight marked her fifth start, and neither rider or trainer were surprised with the outcome.

"She's right there at the top," said Brooks when asked how his winning mount stacks up with horses in his accomplished career. "We had trouble with her getting out in her previous races. She kind of broke in a little, but drew even with the five horse and just went on with it".

"I had a Brimmerton colt last year and liked him, so I knew this filly would be a nice one," added Willis.

Willis indicated that Brimmies Alli Bi B is paid into the Black Gold series in Oklahoma, where she has already qualified for the championship.

Sent off at 20-1, Brimmies Alli Bi B ($42.40) completed the 350-yard stake in :17.530 seconds, earning a 103 speed index. Jazzy Sixes, owned and bred by Jerry Windham, was the fastest qualifier in trials and was seeking his third consecutive win with regular rider Rodrigo Vallejo in the irons.

"We have no excuses," said Vallejo of the runner-up finish of Jazzy Sixes, Trainer Tooter Jordan added that "he just got outrun" and will be pointed to the Texas Classic at Lone Star Park.

Fettish, the fourth fastest qualifier, ran third for trainer Bobby Touchet and the Jorge Haddad-trainee Gols Honey Money Pop was fourth.
