WALK THRU FIRE COLT HAS FASTEST TIME ON FIRST DAY OF WORKS AT LOS ALAMITOS

CYPRESS, CA. - MARCH 3, 2010 - Workouts for the 2-year-old class of 2010 got underway on Tuesday, March 2 at Los Alamitos with 25 promising runners posting qualifying gate works at 220 yards. The morning standout came from the barn of all-time leading trainer Blane Schvaneveldt, as he watched the sorrel colt Leave The Scene scorch the track to the tune of a :12.2 workout. Purchased for $19,200 by Ronnie Brooks and Ron Keller from the Ed Allred consignment at the 2009 Los Alamitos Equine Sale, Leave The Scene outworked Schvaneveldt's Delightful Check by 1/10th of a second. She covered the distance in :12.30, tying the Check Him Out filly for the second fastest time of the morning.

But it was Leave The Scene who was the scene-stealer on Tuesday. A son of Walk Thru Fire out of the Raise A Secret mare Departing, Leave The Scene posted the fast time in easy fashion.

"We've liked him a lot all along," Schvaneveldt said. "After we bought from Dr. Allred we took him to my ranch and we've been training him there. I've had him at the track for the past 10 days or so. We'll give him his second qualifying work in a couple of weeks. We let him do it on his own on Tuesday morning. The rider never even touched him. We'll let the horse do the same for his next work. He can go as fast as he wants. He's in the Kindergarten Futurity and is just about all the other futurities at Los Alamitos. (Delightfulcheck) is also in the Kindergarten. We hope for some nice things from both of them in the future. They sure worked nice on Tuesday."

Check Over Hope, Chick N Dales Dasher, and Classic Blush also posted workout times of :12.30. Complete workout times are available at www.losalamitos.com. Workout videos will also be available starting early next week. For more info, call 714-820-2690.
