FALL FOR IT RISES TO THE TOP OF LA PRIMERA TRIALS

CYPRESS, CA - MARCH 19, 2011 - Racing enthusiasts on the west coast are falling in love with the talented gray filly Fall For It. Bred by Ed Allred and now owned by Brian Hyde, the daughter of Separatist posted her third straight runaway victory while delivering the fastest qualifying time to the $182,700 La Primera Del Ano Derby on Saturday at Los Alamitos.

Covering the distance in an evening’s best time of :19.698, Fall For It is now one of 10 fillies that will return for the 400 yard final to be held here on Saturday, April 9. She will be joined by Enjoy The Walk (:19.658), trial winner Vivid Lady (:19.698), Perrier Cartel (:19.766), Getit Together (:19.766), How Bout This Secret (:19.808), Shes Worth A Kiss (:19.886), Jess Walk (:19.902), Easy Cartel Teller (:20.003) and First In Her Class (:20.030).

All eyes will be on Fall For It in the La Primera finale, as the talented runner won impressively once again. Three races ago, Fall For It dominated the Chickasis Handicap with a 2 ¼ length victory and in her previous start she posted a ¾ length win in the Autumn Handicap. Her winning margin in the La Primera trials was 1 ¼ lengths, an effort that came in wire to wire fashion. Prior to her win in the Chickasis, Fall For It lost by a nose to the colt First Down Illusion in a division of the California Breeders Freshman Stakes on July 31. First Down Illusion was coming into that race at his peak after winning the Ed Burke Million Futurity. Fall For It, meanwhile, went into the Freshman Stakes having been claimed by Hyde and trainer Jim Hanson for $6,250 out of a race in which she coasted to a 3 ¼ length win. Will Fall For It continue to rise in status in the La Primera? The La Primera will clearly be her biggest test to date, but so far she has handled the competition with ease. Jay Conklin, who has now piloted to each of her last three wins, will ride the winner of four of eight career starts.

Rancho El Alacran’s Vivid Lady had complete control of the opening trial, as she flew from post number eight to a 1 ½ length early advantage before cruising home to a ½ length victory over Abigail Kawananakoa’s Perrier Cartel. Trained by Adan Farias and ridden by Rodrigo Aceves, Vivid Lady was picking up the first win of her career after having been runner-up three other times. The Mexican-bred daughter of Vivid Velocity was second in her last start, which was the $15,000 Los Alamitos Maiden Consolation Stakes. Vivid Lady is a half sister to 2009 Champion of Champions finalist My Lady First.
