EST. $50,000 TO BE UP FOR GRABS IN 2010 LOS ALAMITOS CLAIMING FUTURITY -
Nominations are due on Monday, April 12.
LOS ALAMITOS RACE COURSE, CYPRESS, CA... One of the exciting new events in the
2010 Los Alamitos Race Course stakes schedule is the $50,000 estimated Claiming
Futurity for 2-year-olds. To be held for the first time at the Orange County
this year, the Los Alamitos Claiming Futurity trials will be held on Friday, May
28.
Horses that are entered in the 350-yard trials will be entered for a claiming
price of $12,500 and can be claimed for $12,500 out of the trials. The horses
with the 10 fastest times in the trials will advance to the $50,000 estimated
final on Saturday, June 12. The final, which features $25,000 in added money,
will not be contested as a claiming race. The winner of the Claiming Futurity
will take home 42% of the final purse. Owners can nominate their 2-year-old to
this year's Los Alamitos Claiming Futurity by making a $400 payment by the April
12 deadline. The only other payment is a $750 trial entry fee. No supplemental
nominations are available to this race.
The Los Alamitos Claiming Futurity offers no administrative fees and promises to
become highly popular with Quarter Horse owners. "We believe that this race will
be as attractive to owners as the popular Los Alamitos Maiden Stakes, which this
year had a $134,000 purse," said Racing Secretary Ron Church. For more info,
