Without Prejudice, She Is A Fast Dash Shine In
Opener
BOSSIER CITY, LA - Jan. 7, 2012 - The outside post position produced
the winners during a stakes doubleheader on Saturday’s opening day
at Louisiana Downs when Without Prejudice won the $20,000 Harrah’s
Dash Strakes and She Is A Fast Dash took the $20,000 Harrah’s
Distaff.
Rafael Rodriguez Pantoja’s Without Prejudice and the Henry
Padgett-owned and –trained She Is A Fast Dash each won from the 10
hole in full fields.
Without Prejudice, ridden by Martin Rubalcava, prevailed in the
final strides of the 250-yard sprint over Eyesa Western to win by a
neck in :13.197, getting within striking distance of the :13.057
track record set by Bigtime Cartel last year.
Endless Ocean finished one-half length behind Eyesa Western for
third in the field of the track’s quickest older sprinters.
Trained by Eusevio Huitron, the Corona For Me-sired Without
Prejudice excels at shorter distances. The five-year-old gelding
came into the Harrah’s Dash after closing out his 2011 campaign with
a win in the 220-yard Evangeline Downs Dash. He was second in last
year’s Harrah’s Dash and has not started at a distance longer than
350 yards for more than one year.
Without Prejudice also placed in four stakes last year at distances
from 110 yards to 350 yards.
In the 350-yard Harrah’s Distaff, the four-year-old She Is A Fast
Dash gained her black-type in her stakes debut with a 15-1 upset
victory.
A daughter of Heza Fast Dash, She Is A Fast Dash raced with favored
XO Kate from the outside two post positions while Bertha Venation
was contending on the rail. She Is A Fast Dash won by a neck over
Bertha Venation while XO Kate was just a nose back for third.
The Danny Lavergne-ridden She Is A Fast Dash was timed in :17.805
for her second-straight win.
She Is A Fast Dash stepped up to the minor stakes level after a neck
win against $15,000 optional-claiming company at Evangeline Downs on
December 16. She won her maiden for a $5,000 claiming price in her
final 2010 start and spent last year winning two of six starts from
the $10,000 claiming level up to conditioned allowance races.
