Vital Winner TaKes Third Stakes Victory at hialeah
HIALEAH, FL. - FEBRUARY 3, 2010 – Debra
Gotovac’s, Vital Winner showed his stuff on closing day at Hialeah Park by
winning the inaugural running of the $30,000 Sailfish Stakes. Jockey Alex
Baldillez, Jr. piloted the gray gelding to victory leaving his mark in the
first-ever Quarter Horse meet in Hialeah history.
Brad Bolen-trained, six-year-old son of Easy Winning Jet covered the 1000 yards
race in 52.336 over a fast track while a length-and-a-quarter in front of
runner-up Deedees Half Note, with Devons Easy Lane another length-and-a-quarter
back in third. Vital Winner’s win today marked his twentieth victory from 39
lifetime starts for this Texas bred.
Vital Winner paid $2.10, $2.20 and $3.20. Deedees Half Note paid $8.20 and $26.60, while the show payoff on Devons Easy Lane was $7.80.
The victory — worth $19,125 — boosted Vital Winner’s earnings to $404,499.
