CHI TER Wins sOUTH fLORIDA qh INVITATIONAL at HIALEAH
HIALEAH, FL. (January 31, 2010) — The 3-year-old gelding Chi Ter raced to a
decisive one-and-a-quarter-length victory in the $30,000 South Florida Quart
Horse Invitational Stakes with veteran jockey Alex Baldillez aboard at Hialeah
Park on Sunday.
Chi Ter raced the 440 yards in :21.412 for his 6th career victory from 14
starts.
Jockey Alex Baldillez hustled Chi Ter down the stretch making up ground
after being brushed at the start. Chi Ter’s powerful surge earned him a speed
index of 102 as he crossed the wire one-and-a-quarter-lengths ahead of Mr Black
Jesse though running even throughout couldn’t quite get-up and settled for
place, while Royaltime Sparatist after making the lead gave way just jumps from
the wire taking the show.
The Brian Muse-trained Chi Ter by Granite Lake out of This Chicks
Stylish, by Chicks Beduino was bred in Oklahoma by Herb and Doris Pierce and is
owned by Joel Rod Pierce.
Chi Ter rewarded his many backers with $3.80, $2.80 and $2.20. Mr Black
Jesse returned $7.60 and $2.80 while Royaltime Separatist was worth $2.10 to
show.
