shelley wins friday feature at fair grounds
NEW ORLEANS (Friday, February 05, 2010) – Dream Walking Farms’ Seeking Ms
Shelley, allowed to settle just behind the early leaders, launched a bold bid
outside those when set down for the drive and held on late for a
three-quarter-length tally in Friday’s $44,500 five-and-a-half-furlong sprint
for fillies and mares at Fair Grounds.
The winner, ridden by Robby Albarado and trained by Joe Duhon, paid $10.60,
$6.40 and $5.40, accomplished the sprint in 58.29 and increased her career
earnings to $93,990 with her fourth victory in eight lifetime starts.
Lloyd Madison Farms IV’s Valentine Fever rallied on the extreme outside to be
easily second best, returning $14.60 and $9.40, while Gainesway Stable’s Ocean
Colors, who made the pace with splits of 22.69 and 46.35, held on for third at
the wire, paying $3.60 while four lengths behind the runner-up.
Racing resumes Saturday at Fair Grounds with a 12-race program beginning at
12:40 p.m., and Fair Grounds fans are reminded that on this Super Bowl Sunday
there will be a special early post time of 11:30 a.m. to allow fans to get home
in time to watch their beloved New Orleans Saints in their first Super Bowl
appearance.
