2012 running of the Grade 1 All American
Derby purse will exceed the historic
$2,000,000 mark and reset the all-time
record for any quarter horse race for
three-year-old and older quarter horses.
The All American Derby becomes the
richest race in North America for
three-year-olds of any breed, exceeding
the $2,000,000 Kentucky Derby for
thoroughbreds. The Preakness Stakes and
the Belmont Stakes, the other two legs
of the Triple Crown, each offer
$1,000,000 purses. The All American
Derby also surpasses the $1,500,000
purse for the Hambletonian for
three-year-old standardbred trotters.
