All American Derby to Exceed $2M

Ruidoso Downs Only Track With Two $2M Stakes -
RUIDOSO DOWNS, NM. - Oct. 25, 2011 ‑ The 2012 running of the Grade 1 All American Derby purse will exceed the historic $2,000,000 mark and reset the all-time record for any quarter horse race for three-year-old and older quarter horses.

The All American Derby becomes the richest race in North America for three-year-olds of any breed, exceeding the $2,000,000 Kentucky Derby for thoroughbreds. The Preakness Stakes and the Belmont Stakes, the other two legs of the Triple Crown, each offer $1,000,000 purses. The All American Derby also surpasses the $1,500,000 purse for the Hambletonian for three-year-old standardbred trotters. read more

RUIDOSO DOWNS, New Mexico (July 24, 2011) – Feature Mr Bojangles might have been at 9-1 longshot in the final odds, but he raced down the Ruidoso Downs straightaway like a solid All American Futurity hopeful to win the Grade 1, $700,000 Rainbow Futurity on Sunday afternoon.

The $700,000 purse exceeded the previous record purse of $636,881 and will rise to $1-million in 2013.
