Aurora, CO – May 25, 2013 – Fabulous Ocean picked up right where he left off at Arapahoe Park. After winning the final and richest Quarter Horse race on closing day last year in the 400-yard, Grade 3 $130,000 Mile High Futurity, he won the first Quarter Horse race on opening day this year and was the fastest qualifier for the 400-yard, $30,000 estimated Adequan Arapahoe Derby Challenge.
The Hipolito Michel-Valverde-trained 3-year-old colt ridden by Russell Vicchrilli won the first of Saturday’s two derby trials in 19.730 seconds. The Adequan Arapahoe Derby Challenge finals will take place on June 8. The winner of that race will earn a berth to the 400-yard, $200,000 Grade 1 Adequan Derby Challenge Championship at Los Alamitos Race Course on November 9.
