Jet Black Patriot colt tops LQHBA Sale

October 15, 2011 - Yearlings were the top sellers on Saturday at the LQHBA Fall Mixed Sale at the Coushatta Casino Resort in Kinder, Louisiana.

Overall numbers for the fall mixed venue saw a slight decrease as compared to last year with the sale average falling to $2,041 from $2,137 for 2010. The median price dropped to $1,000 compared to $1,300 last year. There were 249 head catalogued this year with 142 selling and 33 outs.

Mary Thompson paid $20,000 for Whispering Patriot, the high-selling yearling consigned by Robicheaux Ranch, Inc., agent for Dusty Castille. The bay Jet Black Patriot colt is the first foal of the stakes-placed Rakin In The Cash mare Miss Classy Perry ($98,162).

Triple Lynn Farms LLC sold Triple Lynn Dash, a Bigtime Favorite colt out of the stakes-winning Reeds Dash mare Haileighs Reed Dash ($177,236), to Gerald Williams for $16,000.

Redheadbutnostranger, a First To Shine filly consigned by Mary Thompson, sold to Robert David for $15,500. The filly is a full sister to Louisiana Breeders' Laddie Futurity (RG2) winner Native Shine ($195,391).

Mary Thompson was the sale's leading buyer with two head for $27,500. The aforementioned Gerald Williams had the one purchase for $16,000, and Robert David had one for $15,500.

The sale’s leading consignor was Kris Locklear, who sold eight head for $24,400, followed by Dusty Castille, who sold the high-seller for $20,000, and Robicheaux Ranch Inc. with five for $18,400.

Bigtime Favorite was the leading yearling sale sire with three head averaging $11,000, followed by first-year sire Jet Black Patriot with five at $7,780, and Dashs Slinky who had four with a $4,425 average. Jumpn was the sale's leading covering sire with two in-foal mares averaging $2,550.
