Cartel to stand freshman year at Haddad Ranch
SEGUIN, TX—OCTOBER 6, 2011—Grade 2 winner The Louisiana Cartel has retired from
racing and will stand his first season in 2012 at Haddad Ranch near Seguin,
Texas.
Unraced at 2, the multiple stakes winning son of Corona Cartel is owned by Jorge
Haddad. He won or placed in eight of 10 career starts at 3 and 4 while earning
$127,941. He won the Sam Houston Championship Challenge(G2), Sam Houston Classic
Handicap(G2) and was third in Firecracker Derby. The Louisiana Cartel was
injured in his final start, the $100,000 Remington Park Invitational
Championship(G1).
He never ran less than a 90 speed index, posting speed indexes over 102 in three
races, including a high of 109 in just his second start.
His dam, the grade 2 placed The Louisiana Girl by Louisiana Slew(TB), has
produced 10 ROM winners, six stakes winners, 1 champion including 2011 Leading
sire champion
Jess Louisiana Blue ($170,682); grade 2 winners Louisiana Eye Opener
($151,254) and Jessthelouisianagirl ($122,904); grade 3 winner Fed Ex Together
($112,864); stakes winner and sire Call Me Fed Ex ($80,437) and stakes-placed

The Louisiana Cartel's second dam is the blue hen champion mare Little Blue
Sheep ($389,355), dam of stakes winners Browns Dasher ($69,885) and Rheaetta.
