RUIDOSO DOWNS, New Mexico (February 28, 2011) – The Grade 1, $2,400,000 (est.) All American Futurity – the richest race in quarter horse racing – highlights the stakes schedule for the 60-day summer season at Ruidoso Downs. The All American Futurity winner’s share of $1,200,000 will also establish an all-time record for quarter horse racing. The iconic meet begins on May 27 with the day dedicated to trials to the Grade 1, $500,000 Ruidoso Futurity and concludes on Labor Day with the running of the 440-yard All American Futurity. This summer racing will run on a Friday through Monday weekly schedule. The sole exception is a program on Thursday, August 18 for the trials to the All American Futurity. The addition of Monday racing results in the Ruidoso Juvenile Overnight Stakes set for Monday, June 13 and the Rainbow Juvenile Overnight Stakes on Monday, July 25. The $600,000 (est.) Ruidoso Derby is on June 11, the $500,000 Ruidoso Futurity is on June 12, the $850,000 (est.) Rainbow Derby is on July 23, the $700,000 Rainbow Futurity in on July 24, the $1,200,000 (est.) All American Derby is on September 4 and the $2,400,000 (est.) All American Futurity is on September 5. If any horse can sweep the Ruidoso, Rainbow and All American futurities then that horse’s connections take the $4,000,000 All American Triple Crown Bonus, the richest bonus in quarter horse racing. The Zia Festival will distribute an estimated $1,000,000 in purses for New Mexico-bred thoroughbreds and quarter horses on July 31.
