Quarter Horse Yearlings Up 33.7 Percent At New Mexico-Bred
Quarter Horse Sale
RUIDOSO DOWNS, New Mexico (August 20, 2011) – The quarter horse yearling night
of the two-night New Mexico-bred Quarter Horse and Thoroughbred Sale on Friday
night at Ruidoso Downs showed stunning gains with the average up 33.7 percent
over similar 2010 figures.
The 2010 sale offered quarter horses and thoroughbreds on both nights while this
year’s sale has a night dedicated to each breed. The 33.7-percent increase
reflects the figures of all quarter horse yearlings sold each year.
The average per horse sold rose to $9,207 this year from $6,886 last year.
The sale was topped by two members of the MJ Farms consignment who each brought
$47,000.
Jesse Fame, son of Jesse James Jr and the stakes-winning Dash Ta Fame daughter
Famous Chapelle, was purchased by Jimmy Childs.
The colt is a half-brother to New Mexico Breeders Derby winner Arbor Mist. This
is Synchrocept’s family that has produced champion Alice Kay White and grade 1
winner and former world-record holder Kendall Jackson.
Dashes Best, a son of the late Dash Ta Fame, was purchased by Ramon Gonzalez Jr.
He is out of the thoroughbred mare Rammers Best, who placed in four stakes.
