Prairie Meadows American Quarter Horse Meet Stall Applications Due July 1

PRAIRIE MEADOWS, Altoona, IA— June 27, 2011 - Prairie Meadows Quarter Horse Racing Secretary Chad Keller would like to remind horsemen that stall applications for the 2011 Prairie Meadows American Quarter Horse meet—Friday, August 19 through Saturday, October 1—are due on Friday, July 1.

The American Quarter Horses will race on Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 6:30 p.m. (CT). There will be a special post time of 4:00 p.m. (CT) on Labor Day Monday (September 5) to coincide with the simulcast of the All-American Futurity from Ruidoso Downs.

The 26-day format will be exclusive with eight or more Quarter Horse races each race day and an average of $120,000 per day in purses. The 2011 Quarter Horse stakes schedule, worth an estimated $1.2 million, will feature nine graded races among 21 stakes overall.

The Grade II Bank of America Prairie Meadows Challenge Championship spotlights the weekend of
September 2-3, accompanied by an impressive Racing Challenge stakes lineup that will feature five additional
regional championship races. Added to the 2011 schedule is a Bonus Challenge race ($20,000 added) to be
held on Saturday, September 17, for racing challenge enrolled horses, ages three years and up competing at a
distance of 350 yards. (Challenge purses combined $210,000 added).

Prairie Meadows Quarter Horse Champions Night on Friday, September 30, kicks off nine stakes events on
closing weekend, featuring a trio of Grade IIIs—the Valley Junction Futurity, Altoona Derby, and Two
Rivers Stakes. Iowa Quarter Horse Champions Night on closing night, October 1, features an all Iowa-bred
race card which includes the Jim Bader Futurity, Polk County Derby, and the restricted Grade III Terrace
Hill Stakes. (Closing Weekend purses combined $505,000 added).
