Okey Dokey Dale
highlights day 1 Heritage Fall Mixed
Nov. 4, 2011 - The sale was highlighted today by the sale of Okey Dokey Dale for
$165,000. The purchaser was Pierce Family Partnership. Consigned by Belle Mere
Farm, Ltd. Agent. All sessions of day one realized healthy increases over 2010.
Detailed sales results showing the percentage increases and statistical data
will be available at the conclusion of the sale.
The auction started today with the
rare offering of two original Orin Mixer paintings consigned by
Melvin and Judy Hatley. Lot 1 was the Go Man Go oil painting
purchased by Jerry Windham for $37,000. Immediately after purchasing
this magnificent painting Windham informed the crowd the painting
would be donated to AQHA where it will be permanently displayed at
the AQHA Hall of Fame and Museum. Lot 2 was Triple Chick original
oil painting. This beautiful painting was purchased by Judd Little
for $20,000.
The day one sessions for Thoroughbreds, Paints and Quarter Horses
all realized healthy increases over 2010 fall sales. The sale
company will release percentage and statistical data at the
conclusion of the sale.
"If you were not at Heritage Place last night for the pre-sale party
and the first annual Legends of American Quarter Horse Racing
ceremony, you missed something special," said Heritage Place General
Manager Jeff Tebow.
Marvin Barnes, Jack Brooks, Dr. Charles Graham, John T.L. Jones Jr.,
Pat Thompson, Bubba Casio, Joe Kirk Fulton and Ben Hudson were
honored for their contributions to the industry. Heritage Place and
Track Magazine hosted the event. Joe Merrick and his band provided
entertainment. A video of this event will be made available by AQHA
in the coming weeks.
Sunset Well Servicing Inc. purchased the high-selling yearling, Ms
Flashy Eyes, for $88,000 from Jumonville Farms. The Mr Jess Perry
filly is out of Grade 2 winner Louisiana Eye Opener, by Mr Eye
Opener.
The aforementioned Pierce Family Partnership was the leading buyer
on day one with the one purchase for $165,000. Sunset Well Service
Inc. bought two head totaling $94,000, and JK Running Horses Inc.
had four for $65,000.
Belle Mere Farm Ltd., agent, was the leading consignor with 10 head
totaling $204,000, followed by Bobby D. Cox with eight for $93,300.
Mr Jess Perry was the leading yearling sale sire with three head
averaging $47,000, and Corona Cartel had three for an average of
$28,333. PYC Paint Your Wagon had two yearlings average $21,750.
Carters Cartel was the leading first-crop sire with two averaging
$14,500.
Saturday’s Quarter Horse Mixed Session, featuring hips 271 through
539, will start promptly at 10:00 a.m.
