OAKLAWN PARK INCREASES PURSE FOR RAZORBACK HOT SPRINGS, AR (Feb. 28, 2011) – Oaklawn Park announced Sunday a purse increase of $25,000 for the March 12 Razorback Handicap. The 1 1/16-mile race for 4-year-olds and older will now carry a purse of $125,000. First run in 1960, the Razorback is the last local prep before the $350,000 Oaklawn Handicap (G2) scheduled this year for April 9. Among its most notable winners have been champion Temperence Hill, Kentucky Derby (G1) winner Lil E. Tee, Silver Goblin, Mr Ross, Magna Graduate and Jonesboro. Fifth Season Stakes winner Win Willy, Essex Handicap winner Kate’s Main Man and Winslow Homer, who is on the comeback trail, are among the horses pointing towards the Razorback this year. |
