Julianna Hawn Holt Buys Ochoa's Dam

Oct. 28, 2011 - Julianna Hawn Holt, a leading consignor at the Ruidoso Select Sale every year, has added another top mare to her impeccable broodmare band. Holt recently purchased Stolis Fortune, dam to the 2011 All American Futurity winner Ochoa, from Johnny "T.L." Jones.

The 2003 daughter of champion Stoli was unplaced in four starts at 2. Dam of three registered foals, Ochoa is her first starter. Ochoa won three of four starts this season including the $2.4 million All American Futurity (G1) and was third in the $500,000 Ruidoso Futurity (G1). The Tres Seis gelding is the leading money earning Quarter Horse in 2011 with $1,244,200.

Out of the Six Fortune mare Splashing Fortune, Stolis Fortune is a half-sister Grade 2 winner Fortune First (by First Down Dash, $98,147). Her second dam is the stakes-placed Jet Creek mare Splashing Bunny, a half-sister to Champion Six To Five ($290,159); stakes winners Mary Major and On A Bunny; and stakes-placed Dusty Bunny and March N Lady.

Splashing Bunny, a multiple stakes producer, is the granddam of champions Jumping Tac Flash and Splash Bac and great-granddam of champion Carters Cartel ($659,146) and Grade 1 winners Feature Mr Bojangles ($411,800 at 2, 2011), Tac It Like A Man ($413,563), Headturner ($294,032), etc.

As a broodmare sire, Stoli has had only two crops to race. He has sired the dams of 12 winners and three stakes winners from 35 starters, with earnings of nearly $1.7 million this season.

Stolis Fortune sold with a Fly Jess Fly colt on her side and is bred to Fantastic Corona Jr for 2012. According ranch manager Benny Greathouse no decision has been made on whom the mare will be bred to next season.

Stolis Fortune has joined the likes of all-time leading dam Corona Chick, world champion producer Apollitcal Time, champion and All American Futurity winner Heartswideopen, champion Higher Fire, Grade 1 winner Thewayyouwantmetoo and Grade 1 producer Pamper Me Special at Holt's Cross-Triangle Ranch near San Antonio.
