Station-Oklahoma adds three new stallions to their 2012 roster
Oct. 28, 2011 - Rancho El Alacran Inc.' Grade 1 winner Fighter On Fire will
stand the 2012 season at JEH Oklahoma for $2,500. His first foals hit the ground
this year.
The California hi-point 3-year-old won or placed in 19 of 27 starts, earning
$682,788. He won the Bank of America Challenge Championship (G1), Bank of
America California Championship Challenge (G2), California Breeders' Freshman
Stakes (R) and Jens L List Memorial California Breeders' Stakes (R). He was
second in the Golden State Million Futurity (G1), California Juvenile Challenge
(G3) and third in the Champion of Champions (G1), Southern California Derby (G1)
and Ed Burke Memorial Juvenile (R).
Fighter On Fire was also a finalist in the Los Alamitos Super Derby (G1),
Kindergarten Futurity (G1), Golden State Derby (G1), Los Alamitos Winter Derby
(G1), Vessels Maturity (G1), Robert L. Boniface Los Alamitos Invitational
Championship (G1), El Primero Del Ano Derby (G2), Los Alamitos Two Million
Futurity (G1) and Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity (G1).
Out of the Merridoc mare Chenille, dam of 19 ROM earners, he is a full brother
to Grade 1 winner Firstdown Touchdown ($188,764), winner of the El Primero Del
Ano Derby (G1), and Grade 2 placed Our Honey Bunny ($33,693).
Grade 2 winner Favorite Cartel will enter stud at JEH Stallion Station-Oklahoma
following his retirement from racing. He is set to run in the $350,000 Bank of
America Challenge Championship (G1) at Los Alamitos Race Course on October 29.
The son Thoroughbred horse of the year Favorite Trick has won or placed in 14 of
22 career starts while earning $422,069. He won the Los Alamitos Challenge
Championship (G2), Paul Ford Memorial Handicap and was third in the Rainbow
Futurity (G1) and SLM Big Daddy Stakes. He was also a finalist in the All
American Futurity (G1), All American Derby (G1), Los Alamitos Super Derby (G1)
and Rainbow Derby(G1).
Favorite Cartel is out of the multiple stakes producing Corona Cartel mare
Shenoshercorona, dam of three starters, two stakes winners and one stakes-placed
runner. She has also produced stakes winner Shescheckinumout ($105,075) and
stakes-placed Hes Regal ($88,493). The second dam is by world champion triple
crown winner Special Effort and is a half-sister to world champion
Whosleavingwho ($1,334,842), Grade 2 winner Coronas Leaving You ($278,358),
stakes winner Wholelota Dash ($109,986) and stakes winner Beduinos Rusty
($57,965). His third dam is the blue hen Easily Smashed mare Lil Bit Rusty.
Owned by the partnership of Jones, Thompson, Hubbard and Helzer, Favorite Cartel
will stand for private treaty.
Grade 2-placed and Grade 1 finalist Duke Kahanamoku begins his stallion career
at JEH Oklahoma in 2012 for a fee of $1,500.
Owned by Muniz Quarter Horses LLC and Juan Aleman, the son of world champion
Wave Carver won three of five career starts, earning $85,288. He was third in
the El Primero Del Ano Derby (G2) and was a finalist in the Golden State Million
Futurity (G1).
"Duke Kahanamoku is the fastest horse we've ever owned," Joe Muniz said. The
Muniz and Bobenrieth family have owned and raced such horses as leading sire
Chicks Beduino and world champion A Ransom.
He suffered a career-ending injury in his final start, the El Primero Del Ano
Derby (G2).
The royally bred 3-year-old sold for $77,000 at the 2009 Los Alamitos Equine
Sale. His dam, the stakes-placed and Grade 1 finalist Chicks Beduino mare Sky
Chicks has produced 12 winners including El Primero Del Ano Derby (G2) winner
Dutch Schultz ($356,668); Southern California Derby (G1) winner Spike It And Fly
($187,652); stakes winner Rule The Skies ($29,242) and stakes-placed Lite Up The
Skies. She is also the granddam of El Primero Del Ando Derby (G2) winner Royal
Proclamation ($303,923) and Juvenile Challenge Championship(G2) winner Three
Green Leaves ($114,908).
