Iowa House passes gaming bill

DES MOINES, IA - May 4, 2011 - The Iowa House passed a wide-reaching gambling bill Tuesday that includes a measure to allow people to vote on horse races over the phone or via a computer.

The bill, which passed 72-21, also changes the current system by which voters must affirm their desire to keep a casino in the county every eight years for it to continue to operate and directs the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission to study Internet gambling.
