Horse racing legends to converge in Oklahoma City

Oklahoma City, OK - Nov. 1, 2011 - All still living. All still legends. That's kind of what's happening Thursday in the quarter horse racing world to kick off the Heritage Place Mixed Sale in the Oklahoma City area.

Seven legends in racing will be on hand in overstuffed leather chairs at Heritage Place and speak about how the superstars of this sport became superstars. The dais consists of owner/breeder Marvin Barnes, industry leader Dr. Charles Graham, John T.L. Jones Jr., trainer Bubba Cascio, trainer Jack Brooks, trainer Pat Thompson and breeder Joe Kirk Fulton.

Barnes ran 1-2 in the All American Futurity in 1982 with Mr Master Bug and Miss Squaw Hand. Graham stood All American Futurity winners such as Three Oh's in 1968 and Mr Piloto in 2010. Jones had his hands on Three Bars, Jet Smooth, Hempen and Zevi and won this year's All American Futurity with the No. 1 horse in the country - Ochoa. Cascio conditioned All American Futurity winners Three Oh's and Rocket Wrangler and trained two-time World Champion Dash For Cash. Brooks has won the All American Futurity eight times, more than any other trainer in history, from Moon Lark in 1978 to Eyesa Special in 2000. Thompson was a pioneer horsemen in the industry with such greats as 1961 champion She Kitty and 1962 champion Little Chloe. Fulton is the breeder of World Champions Dashs Dream and Special Leader and he had top sire Mr Eye Opener.

Remington Park President and General Manager Scott Wells and Remington Park personality Chris Kotulak will emcee the event.

The consignor's pre-sale party starts at 5 p.m. Thursday and will be followed by the sale auditorium with "A Night With the Legends" at 6 p.m.
