OKLAHOMA CITY, OK - JANUARY 15, 2011 - At close of the three-day-session on Saturday, results showed the highest grossing sale in the 33 year history of the famed Heritage Place Quarter Horse sale.
"The results speak for themselves," Heritage Place General Manager Jeff Tebow said Saturday night.
"After a quick review we believe this is the highest grossing sale in the 33 year history of Heritage Place."
Total volume for all sessions was $10,931,400. There were 1065 horses that passed thru the sale ring for an average of $10,264.
"The International demand for the Racing American Quarter Horse is unbelievable and the domestic buyers were equally impressive," Tebow said.
"We realize that none of this could have been possible without the support and commitment of our consignors. They consigned a great group of horses and were reward with recorded prices," he added.
Blues Ferrari, a 3-year-old full brother to World Champion Blues Girl Too, topped the sale late Saturday when Alfonso Del Rayo gave the final bid of $310,000. The 2010 Golden State Million Futurity(G1) finalist sired by Corona Cartel was consigned by Tyler Graham – Southwest Stallion Station, Agent.
Champion Corona Cash, a 16-year-old daughter of First Down Dash, was the high selling broodmare at $230,000. Elim Quarter Horses was the purchaser from the Lazy E Ranch, LLC, Agent for Spear Cross Ranch-Henry Brown dispersal.
Tyler Graham, Agent, led all buyers with 15 head for a $440,500 gross. Sam Bergen purchased 33 head for $420,600 and Vince Genco bought 12 head for $321,00.
Lazy E Ranch, LLC, Agent for Spear Cross Ranch-Henry Brown was the leading consignor with 69 head totaling $1,623,600. Lazy E Ranch, LLC, Agent sold another 64 head for $640,900. Bobby D. Cox had 38 head bring $287,100.
Corona Cartel was the leading sire of short-yearlings with five head averaging $49,200, while first crop sire Swingin Jess had two head average $40,000. Leading Sire of 2010 Money Earners, Mr Jess Perry had two head average $30,000.
Valiant Hero, a grade 1 winner who's first crops will race this year, led the covering sires with four in-foal mares averaging $34,375. Walk Thru Fire had two in-foal mares average $26,250 and champion Jess Louisiana Blue had two in-foal mare average $22,733.
