First Ruidoso Select Yearling Session Shows Gains Over Last Year’s Figures

RUIDOSO DOWNS, New Mexico (September 3, 2011) – The first of three nights of yearlings selling at the Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale showed a seven-percent increase in final sales over comparable 2010 figures.

The average price rose to $36,986 from $34,575 for last year’s opening session.

During the 2010 offering the sale’s overall high seller, at $340,000, sold on the first night. If that horse is subtracted from the figure comparison, then this year’s first session would show a 14-percent increase in final sales.

Topping the Friday night session was the Burns Ranch-consigned Faux Fur at $200,000. The daughter of Hawkinson was purchased by Ricardo Martinez. The January foal is out of a Separatist daughter who is a half-sister to Rainbow Futurity winner Meganette.

The second high seller and the high-selling colt at $177,000 was All About Torque, consigned by Bobby Cox and purchased by Hector Hernandez. The Mr Jess Perry son is out of Ruidoso Futurity winner All About Ease, the dam of Rainbow Futurity winner Zoomin With Ease.

The third high-seller at $165,000 was a half-brother to champion Old Habits sired by Feature Mr Jess. The colt was consigned by Vessels Stallion Farm and purchased by Double Bar S Ranch. Old Habits won the All American Derby and was second in the All American Futurity. Day 1 results
