First Prize Moon tops Heritage Place Yearling
Sale, Average up 13%
Oklahoma City, OK - Sept. 18, 2011 - Heritage Place
Sale Company concluded their three-day September yearling auction on
Saturday afternoon with a 13% increase in average over last year's
sale.
The average for the entire sale, excluding repurchases, increased
13% to $12,656 from $11,199 in 2010. Gross sales, excluding
repurchases, for this year’s sale increased 9% from 2010. Total
transactions equaled $11,999,650. Repurchases accounted for 17.5% of
the 906 horses offered. There were 64 horses withdrawn from the
sale. The Total number of horses cataloged this year equaled 972,
down from 1020 in 2010.
First Prize Moon, a full brother to Grade 1 winners First Prize
Leesa, First Carolina and First Prize Robin, was the top seller at
$435,000. Rodrigo Norzagaray Espinoza purchased the Mr Jess Perry
colt out of First Prize Dash, by Dash For Cash, from Marty Powers,
agent for Weetona Stanley, in the first session.
Jorge Gonzalez purchased the second high-seller on Friday, a Mr Jess
Perry colt, for $270,000. Consigned by Sunflower Supply Inc.,
Jessaraceaway is a half bother to eight stakes horses including
Grade 2 winner Miss Racy Eyes.
Saturday's high-seller, Mr Perry Rose, was the third-highest selling
yearling at $200,000. Also by Mr Jess Perry, the sorrel colt is out
of Ruidoso Derby (G1) winner Remember Me Rose, by Corona Cartel.
Jose Hernandez signed the ticket for the yearling consigned by Azoom
Ranch.
Rodrigo Norzagaray Espinoza was the leading buyer with seven
purchases totaling $453,800. Jorge Gonzalez bought the one yearling
for $270,000 followed by Guillermo Valdivia, who bought seven head
for $236,000.
Marty Powers, agent for Weetona Stanley, was the sale's leading
consignor with two head totaling $455,000. Lazy E Ranch, agent, sold
29 head for $443,600, and Bobby D. Cox sold 23 yearlings for
$409,300.
Mr Jess Perry led all sale sires with 12 head averaging $105,017.
Corona Cartel saw 14 yearlings average $56,286, and First Down Dash
had 10 at $41,600.
Carters Cartel led sires selling their first crop with 19 head
averaging $22,621. Jet Black Patriot had two head for $19,000, and
One Famous Eagle saw 28 head average $13,039.

definitely stronger in depth than it has been for many years and our
