Filly Record Set at Ruidoso, Second Session Up 20 Percent

RUIDOSO DOWNS, New Mexico (September 4, 2011) – Justice Down Toll SA, a daughter of Mr Jess Perry, became the all-time, high-selling filly at the Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale on Saturday night when she brought a bid of $630,000 from David and Sue Mackie’s Mackie Racing.

The all-time high seller and high-selling colt is First Prize Stanley, who sold for $675,000 in 2008.

Saturday’s session final sales averaged $49,913, a 20-percent increase over comparable figures for the second session of the 2010 sale.

The first two nights of the three-night sale sports a 14-percent increase over the first two nights of the 2010 offering. The sale concludes on Sunday evening.

Justice Down Toll SA was consigned by MJ Farms for Vessels Stallion Farm and Gianni Samaja. The filly is out of the First Down Dash daughter First Down Toll, a qualifier to the Governor’s Cup Derby. She has produced four foals of racing age, including Grade 1 Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity winner One Quick First Down and Grade 1 Ed Burke Million third-place finisher Three Times The Toll.

The session’s second high seller and the high-selling colt was Class Jump at $310,000. Corona Cartel son was consigned by Lazy E Ranch for Double Bar S Ranch and was purchased by William Smith. He is out of champion 2-year-old filly Jumpin Tac Flash, who is the dam of champion Carters Cartel, PCQHRA Breeders Futurity winner Tac It Like A Man and Los Alamitos Million Futurity runner-up Imjumpn. Class Jump is a full brother to Carters Cartel.

Selling for $200,000 was Primero Sin Tacha, a son of First Down Dash and stakes winner Sin Tacha Perry. This is the immediate family of world champion Streakin Sin Tacha. He was purchased by Johnny Cope, R.D. Hubbard and Butch Southway from the Vessels Stallion Farm and Janet VanBebber.
