Favorite Cartel to Burns Ranch in 2012 - Grade 1 winner to Burns Ranch upon retirement

Nov. 1, 2011 - Grade 1 winner Favorite Cartel will enter stud at Burns Ranch near Menifee, California, in 2012 following his retirement from racing.

He won the $353,500 Bank of America Challenge Championship (G1) at Los Alamitos Race Course on October 29, earning an invitation to the $750,000 Champion of Champions(G1) in December.

It has previously been reported that he was going to stand in Oklahoma, however, Burns Ranch purchased R.D. Hubbard and Jim Helzer's interest in the horse on Saturday.

The son of Thoroughbred Horse of the Year Favorite Trick has won or placed in 15 of 23 career starts while earning $583,069. He won the Bank of America Challenge Championship (G1), Bank of America Los Alamitos Challenge Championship (G2), Paul Ford Memorial Handicap and was third in the Rainbow Futurity (G1) and SLM Big Daddy Stakes. He was also a finalist in the All American Futurity (G1), All American Derby (G1), Los Alamitos Super Derby (G1) and Rainbow Derby (G1).

Favorite Cartel is out of the multiple stakes producing Corona Cartel mare Shenoshercorona, dam of three starters, two stakes winners and one stakes-placed runner. She has also produced stakes winner Shescheckinumout ($105,075) and stakes-placed Hes Regal ($88,493).

The second dam is by world champion triple crown winner Special Effort and is a half-sister to world champion Whosleavingwho ($1,334,842), Grade 2 winner Coronas Leaving You ($278,358), stakes winner Wholelota Dash ($109,986) and stakes winner Beduinos Rusty ($57,965). His third dam is the blue hen Easily Smashed mare Lil Bit Rusty.
