DEADLINES,
DEADLINES, DEADLINES END JANUARY 3 FOR POSTMARKS, CALL-INS TTA - With December 31, 2011, falling on Saturday, several TTA deadlines that usually close on that date have been extended through the next business day, Tuesday, January 3, 2012. The January 3 deadline includes weanling, yearling and stallion nominations to the Texas Stallion Stakes Series, accreditation of 2011 yearlings, and initial nomination to the 2012 TTA Sales Futurity for Fasig-Tipton Texas sales graduates as well as Accredited Texas-breds by consignor or buyer berth nominations. TTA Accreditation/Racing Manager Jennifer Gibbs can accept applications to meet all deadlines by phone, in person in the office through 5pm on January 3, or accept them by mail with a postmark no later than January 3. Gibbs will also assist any TTA member interested in acquiring a consignor or buyer berth to nominate an ATB eligible 2-year-old of 2012 to the TTA Sales Futurity by the January 3 deadline. Owners, breeders and trainers of ATB horses eligible to be nominated for the TTA Sales Futurity and/or the Texas Stallion Stakes Series, but who have chosen not to nominate in the past, may want to reconsider for the 2012 racing year since stakes opportunities will be cut back significantly at Lone Star. This is also the time of year to check the accreditation status of your in-foal mares. If you are not certain that a mare is accredited, call the TTA office at 512-458-6133 for verification before the arrival of her 2012 foal. If a mare is not accredited at the time of foaling, the only way the mare owner will receive breeder awards on that foal is to pay the supplemental mare accreditation fee of $500 during the foal?s weanling year. If you had a foal in 2011 out of a mare that was not accredited, you have until January 3, 2012, to accredit the mare for $150 to be eligible for breeders awards on her 2011 foal. | ||
