American Runaway to Hart Farms Oct.
28, 2011 - Champion 2-year-old and champion 2-year-old colt American
Runaway will kick off his stallion career in 2012 at Chad Hart's
Hart Farms near Kaplan, Louisiana. His fee has been set at $3,500.
Purchased in the 2009 Heritage Place Yearling Sale by Sammy and
Johnny Martinez, the gray stallion began his championship campaign
with a second place effort (by a nose) to Llano Teller in the
$596,041 Remington Park Futurity (G1).
He then moved to the mountain, winning the $500,000 Ruidoso Futurity
(G1) and finishing second by a nose in the $625,000 Rainbow Futurity
(G1) . Bobby D. Cox purchased a half-interest in the colt after his
sparkling Ruidoso Futurity trial, which he won by more than 4
lengths.
American Runaway ended the season with another second place effort,
by a head, in the $1 million Texas Classic Futurity (G1) at Lone
Star Park.
The colt, by champion Ocean Runaway, won or placed in 12 of 15
career starts, earning $686,355. Cox purchased the remaining
interest in American Runaway over the summer. Paul Jones and John
Buchannan conditioned the colt.
Bred in Utah by Lance Robinson, American Runaway is out of the
Strawfly Special mare Allamericandreamgirl, dam of 100 percent
ROM-earners from five starters. She is a daughter of two-time
champion filly and multiple champion producer Dashing Phoebe
(609,553), by Dash For Cash.
Allamericandreamgirl is a half-sister to four-time champion and All
American Futurity winner Heartswideopen ($1,885,283), champion
Special Phoebe ($139,963), Grade 3 winner Furyofthewind ($70,553),
Grade 3 winner Dashingfordestiny ($56,961), Restricted Grade 3
winner Solid Demand ($35,842) and stakes-placed Especially Phoebe
($23,842). She is also a full or half-sister to the dams of stakes
winner and world record setter Corona Ease ($209,820), stakes winner
Famous Phoebe ($189,272) and stakes winner Azshecanfly ($92,572 to
4, 2011).
