Champion American Runaway to Hart Farms

Oct. 28, 2011 - Champion 2-year-old and champion 2-year-old colt American Runaway will kick off his stallion career in 2012 at Chad Hart's Hart Farms near Kaplan, Louisiana. His fee has been set at $3,500.

Purchased in the 2009 Heritage Place Yearling Sale by Sammy and Johnny Martinez, the gray stallion began his championship campaign with a second place effort (by a nose) to Llano Teller in the $596,041 Remington Park Futurity (G1).

He then moved to the mountain, winning the $500,000 Ruidoso Futurity (G1) and finishing second by a nose in the $625,000 Rainbow Futurity (G1) . Bobby D. Cox purchased a half-interest in the colt after his sparkling Ruidoso Futurity trial, which he won by more than 4 lengths.

American Runaway ended the season with another second place effort, by a head, in the $1 million Texas Classic Futurity (G1) at Lone Star Park.

The colt, by champion Ocean Runaway, won or placed in 12 of 15 career starts, earning $686,355. Cox purchased the remaining interest in American Runaway over the summer. Paul Jones and John Buchannan conditioned the colt.

Bred in Utah by Lance Robinson, American Runaway is out of the Strawfly Special mare Allamericandreamgirl, dam of 100 percent ROM-earners from five starters. She is a daughter of two-time champion filly and multiple champion producer Dashing Phoebe (609,553), by Dash For Cash.
