Branstad taps Lamberti, Heinrich for Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission

February 28, 2011 - Gov. Terry Branstad today appointed former Iowa Senate President Jeff Lamberti of Ankeny and former Iowa Western Community College President Carl Heinrich of Council Bluffs to the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission.

Lamberti replaces Paul Hayes of Urbandale, while Heinrich succeeds Kate Cutler of Council Bluffs. Both will serve three-year terms beginning May 1 that are subject to Iowa Senate confirmation.

Lamberti is a lawyer and president and lead investor of The Iowa Barnstormers and shareholder and principal of Riverside Partners Inc. He is president of the law firm of Block, Lamberti, Gocke & Ahlman P.C.

Heinrich has a doctorate from the University of Kansas and is the current board president of the Union Pacific Railroad Museum in Council Bluffs, as well as a host of other community groups.

The five-member state gambling panel regulates Iowa’s commercial casinos and horse and dog tracks.
