down at Fasig-Tipton Texas
December 13, 2011 - Stakes-placed winner and stakes
producer Ruby Be Mine brought the top price of $35,000 and average
and median prices both saw significant increases at the one-day
Fasig-Tipton Texas December mixed sale on Monday at Lone Star Park.
Moon Lake Stables secured the three highest-priced horses of the
session, including the sale-topping nine-year-old Rubiano mare out
of the Hyperborean mare Hyper and Saucy. Ruby Be Mine has produced
three winners, including multiple stakes winner Ruby’s Big Band.
Ruby Be Mine, in foal to Grade 3 winner Chatain, was consigned by 4M
Ranch, agent.
Moon Lake also won the bidding on the day’s top-priced weanling—and
third-highest priced horse overall—paying $12,000 for a bay Student
Council filly out of Ruby Be Mine.
Fasig-Tipton reported the sale of 55 horses from 112 offered for
$250,400, down 18.7% from last year’s sale, when 76 horses sold for
$307,900. The average price of $4,553 was 12.4% higher than $4,051
last year and the median rose 47.4% to $2,800 from $1,900 in 2010.
