372 Yearlings offered in Fasig-Tipton
Texas Summer Sale July 27, 2011 - Fasig-Tipton has
catalogued 372 yearlings for its Texas Summer Yearling Sale in a
continuous session, beginning at 10:00 a.m., on Tuesday, August 30.
The sale will be held at Fasig-Tipton’s sales facility on the
grounds of Lone Star Park, mid-way between Dallas and Fort Worth, in
Grand Prairie. Immediately following the Texas Summer Yearling Sale
will be Phase III of the Heiligbrodt Racing Stable Dispersal. An
additional 53 Horses of Racing Age will make the sale the largest
Fasig-Tipton has ever slated for one day in Texas.
“Talk about critical mass. This year’s catalogue includes 49 Texas-breds,
214 Louisiana-breds and 52 Oklahoma-breds, ” said local director of
sales Tim Boyce. “Our sire power is exciting with about 20 per cent
of the sires being first year sires such as Brother Derek, Divine
Park, Into Mischief, Midnight Lute, Red Giant, and Tiz Wonderful.
All had horses sell for $ 100,000 or more at the recently concluded
Fasig-Tipton Summer Select Sale in Kentucky. “
Some high-profile proven stallions such as Exchange Rate, Flatter,
Latent Heat, Lemon Drop Kid, Lion Heart, Smoke Glacken, Speightstown,
Stormy Atlantic, Successful Appeal, Tale of the Cat and Yes Its True
will augment the Southwest contingent of sires represented with
Louisiana’s new freshman sire, Private Vow and Texas’s proven leader
Valid Expectations.
“With the sale being on Tuesday, it will give buyers an extra day of
looking,” added director Boyce “Our consignors see the Heiligbrodt
horses of racing age as a new dimension to the day, which they hope
will encourage some new faces on the sales grounds. The same format
worked well at our recent Kentucky Select Sale and should feed the
energy here as well. If you plan to race in the southwest, you need
to be at this sale.”
Catalogues can be accessed on line and are available from all Fasig-Tipton
offices. The Sunday before the sale, on August 28 at 10:00 a.m.,
there will be a buying and selling seminar organized by the Texas
Thoroughbred Association (mary@texasthoroughbred.com).
