RW Red Wave Tops Ruidoso Juvie On Monday at Ruidoso Downs

RUIDOSO DOWNS, New Mexico (June 10, 2011) – RW Red Wave, one of the favorites coming into Ruidoso Futurity trials, makes her second career start in the $20,000 Ruidoso Juvenile Overnight Handicap on Monday afternoon at Ruidoso Downs.

The 350-yard Ruidoso Juvenile is for horses who raced in the Ruidoso Futurity trials but did not have one of the 10-fastest qualifying times.

Monday is also Dollar Day at Ruidoso Downs with hot dogs, small sodas, small popcorn and small ice cream cones selling for one dollar.

First post time for the 10-race card is 1 p.m. with the Ruidoso Juvenile running as the sixth race.

The Paul Jones-trained RW Red Wave gained attention when she won a training race at Ruidoso Downs on May 10 in :15.95 for 330 yards. It was the second-fastest time from the three days of training races held in preparation for the summer season at Ruidoso Downs.
The daughter of Wave Carver made her career debut as the even-money favorite in her Ruidoso Futurity trial and finished second to Ruidoso Futurity qualifier Silver For Me. Her time of :17.749 was the 15th-fastest time from the 21 trials.

Ramon Sanchez rides RW Red Wave with the ninth post position.

Texas Rockstar also raced to a sharp time in his Ruidoso Futurity trial without making the cut to qualify for the Ruidoso Futurity. The Carl Draper-trained colt finished third in his trial and was clocked in :17.728, the 13th-fastest time during the daylong trials. The Feature Mr Jess-sired colt made his only other start in the West Texas Futurity trials and finished in fifth place.

Larry Payne is aboard Texas Rockstar with the third post position.
