RW Red Wave Tops Ruidoso Juvie On
Monday at Ruidoso Downs
RUIDOSO DOWNS, New Mexico (June 10, 2011) – RW Red Wave, one of the
favorites coming into Ruidoso Futurity trials, makes her second
career start in the $20,000 Ruidoso Juvenile Overnight Handicap on
Monday afternoon at Ruidoso Downs.
The 350-yard Ruidoso Juvenile is for horses who raced in the Ruidoso
Futurity trials but did not have one of the 10-fastest qualifying
times.
Monday is also Dollar Day at Ruidoso Downs with hot dogs, small
sodas, small popcorn and small ice cream cones selling for one
dollar.
First post time for the 10-race card is 1 p.m. with the Ruidoso
Juvenile running as the sixth race.
The Paul Jones-trained RW Red Wave gained attention when she won a
training race at Ruidoso Downs on May 10 in :15.95 for 330 yards. It
was the second-fastest time from the three days of training races
held in preparation for the summer season at Ruidoso Downs.
The daughter of Wave Carver made her career debut as the even-money
favorite in her Ruidoso Futurity trial and finished second to
Ruidoso Futurity qualifier Silver For Me. Her time of :17.749 was
the 15th-fastest time from the 21 trials.
Ramon Sanchez rides RW Red Wave with the ninth post position.
Texas Rockstar also raced to a sharp time in his Ruidoso Futurity
trial without making the cut to qualify for the Ruidoso Futurity.
The Carl Draper-trained colt finished third in his trial and was
clocked in :17.728, the 13th-fastest time during the daylong trials.
The Feature Mr Jess-sired colt made his only other start in the West
Texas Futurity trials and finished in fifth place.
Larry Payne is aboard Texas Rockstar with the third post position.
