Humble Smarty
Tops Lea County Sprint Stakes at Zia Park
Hobbs, NM – Nov. 10, 2011 - Humble
Smarty, a 7-year-old gelding owned and trained by Brett
Creighton, is one of five runners entered in Sunday's 5
1/2-furlong, $55,000 Lea County Sprint Stakes at Zia
Park.
Humble Smarty is coming off of an
upset victory in the September 30, $100,000 David M.
Vance Sprint Stakes at Remington Park in Oklahoma City.
The Arkansas-bred son of the Seeking The Gold stallion
Mutakddim has earned $102,330 from seven starts this
season, and his two wins include a 5-furlong, $35,000
overnight stakes at Canterbury Park in May.
Humble Smarty shipped to Zia Park
from Oklahoma after posting a 4-furlong work in :46.81
at Remington on November 3, the fastest of 22 drills at
the distance that day.
Also entered in the Lea County
Stakes is Brad and Kim Bingham's Kineticat Yankee, a
7-year-old gelding by Tale Of The Cat trained by Chris
Hartman. Kineticat Yankee was campaigned at Ruidoso
Downs last summer, where he defeated a field of Quarter
Horses in the 870-yard Master Salls Handicap on July 30.
Kineticat Yankee ran second, a neck
behind winner Ducky Drake, in last year's Lea County
Sprint Stakes.
