Git Er Done After Fourth Straight Win In Master Salls ‘Cap at Ruidoso Downs

RUIDOSO DOWNS, New Mexico (July 25, 2011) – The Martin Orona-owned and -trained Git Er Done looks for his fourth-straight win and comes off an impressive victory in the SunRay Park Marathon to head the $30,000 Master Salls Handicap over 870-yards on Saturday afternoon at Ruidoso Downs.

First post time for the 11-race card is 1 p.m. with the Master Salls Handicap running as the 10th race.

Saturday also starts Zia Festival weekend at Ruidoso Downs. The grandstand is filled with vendors throughout the weekend offering New Mexico arts, crafts and wares.

Sunday is the Zia Festival racing program filled with stakes races for New Mexico-bred thoroughbreds and quarter horses racing for purses of $1.1 million.

The quarter horse Git Er Done should try to set the early pace in the Masters Salls when he starts from the second post position in the eight-horse field. He has sprinted to the lead in each of his four-straight wins and opened up a clear early advantage in the 870-yard SunRay Marathon. He then increased his advantage to win by more than four lengths.

The eight-year-old Git Er Done has 12 wins from 41 starts and his three-straight wins have come with a combined margin of 13 lengths.

Vicente Grajeda has been the jockey for each of his three-straight wins and has the mount in the Master Salls.

Lathrop Hoffman’s thoroughbred Facil Catana also comes off a stakes effort when she makes her first start at 870 yards after competing against thoroughbreds at longer distances. Ibn her most recent race the four-year-old filly set all the pace in the six-furlong First Lady Handicap before tiring and settling for fourth place.

The quick-starting Facil Catana has been on the lead in each of her six latest starts, all against thoroughbreds, including a gate-to-wire win in the Bold Ego Handicap at Sunland Park.

Facil Catana drew the rail post position, next to Get Er Done, and will have Enrique Gomez aboard.
