Bullets Brother Tops King Rick Rack Stakes
Hobbs, NM Nov. 18, 2011 - Recent
stakes winner Bullets Brother is the 5-2 morning-line
favorite for Sunday's 870-yard, $55,000 King Rick Rack
Stakes (G2) at Zia Park.
A 7-year-old New Mexico-bred
gelding by Real Runaway racing for Veronica O. Gonzalez
and trainer Martin Orona Sr., Bullets Brother is coming
off of a half-length victory in the $140,000 New Mexico
Cup 870 Championship (R) on October 30. Bullets Brother
drew post 2 in the field of eight and will be ridden by
Salvador Martinez.
Orona has another major contender
in Git Er Done. The 8-year-old gelding by Holland Ease
is five weeks removed from a 1 1/2-length win in the
870-yard, $55,000 Herman Jefferson Stakes (G3) at Zia.
The King Rick Rack Stakes is named
in honor of the horse by the same name who won 23 races,
most at the 870 distance, during a long career that
spanned from 1999-2007.
