Bullets Brother Tops King Rick Rack Stakes

Hobbs, NM – Nov. 18, 2011 - Recent stakes winner Bullets Brother is the 5-2 morning-line favorite for Sunday's 870-yard, $55,000 King Rick Rack Stakes (G2) at Zia Park.

A 7-year-old New Mexico-bred gelding by Real Runaway racing for Veronica O. Gonzalez and trainer Martin Orona Sr., Bullets Brother is coming off of a half-length victory in the $140,000 New Mexico Cup 870 Championship (R) on October 30. Bullets Brother drew post 2 in the field of eight and will be ridden by Salvador Martinez.

Orona has another major contender in Git Er Done. The 8-year-old gelding by Holland Ease is five weeks removed from a 1 1/2-length win in the 870-yard, $55,000 Herman Jefferson Stakes (G3) at Zia.

The King Rick Rack Stakes is named in honor of the horse by the same name who won 23 races, most at the 870 distance, during a long career that spanned from 1999-2007.
