Daddy Nose Best Rallies to Win Grade 3 El Camino Real Derby

Berkeley, CA - Feb. 18, 2012 - Julien Leparoux rode Daddy Nose Best to a come-from-behind win in the Grade 3, $200,000 El Camino Real Derby at Golden Gate Fields on Saturday.

Trained by Steve Asmussen for owners Bob and Cathy Zollars, Daddy Nose Best rallied off of the fractions of :23.31, :47.57, and 1:12.28 set by Handsome Mike and All Squared Away, before he reached the wire in 1:50.46 for his 1 1/8-mile trip on Golden Gate's synthetic Tapeta surface. Daddy Nose Best's victory was his first in a stakes race, and it established the bay colt as one of the West Coast contenders for the May 5, $2-million Kentucky Derby (G1) at Churchill Downs. read more

Gleaming Scores Second Straight in Spring Fever - HOT SPRINGS, AR - Feb. 19, 2012 – Whenever Sanders and Hirsch’s Gleaming runs at Oaklawn this year, there seems to be travel complications for her regular jockey Cliff Berry. She needed a replacement rider when she won the American Beauty Stakes last month, but Berry had less trouble making it to Hot Springs Sunday, and the two travelled beautifully together in taking the $60,000 Spring Fever.
